1. Lineage.  If you were seeking education in any other field, you would seek out the schools with a long-standing tradition of excellence.  A mystery school is no different!  We don’t want New Age; we want Old Age, something that’s been around for a long time and whose teachings are accurate, unbroken and true.  If a tool has been working for people for 3,000 years, you know it will work for you, too.
2. Teachers, not gurus.  Any teacher worth his salt should encourage his students to make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. A good teacher will not put herself on a pedestal but will say that you, too, can attain mastery. She serves as an example of what you can become. In short, a quality spiritual teacher doesn’t want you worshiping him … he wants to see you become your own guru! This is where true empowerment lies!
3. Hands-on learning.  One reason education today has failed us is due to the emphasis on theory over experience.  Knowledge is important, too, of course, but self-awareness requires experience so that knowledge can transform into wisdom.  A mystery school education should therefore include a hands-on, experiential classroom setting.
4.
